The Foundation received approval in 2006 from the Internal Revenue Service to change to a community foundation.
While this change in status from a private foundation does not alter the mission of the foundation, it does give the foundation more flexibility when it comes to grant giving. It also permits the establishment of “donor advised funds” whereby the donor may name the fund and advise the foundation on distributions from the fund. The donor may be an individual, a family, or a community organization.
Please consider including The Eagles Mere Foundation in your Will.
While your attorney and tax advisor should be consulted before making changes to your legal documents, the following example may be helpful:
“I give to The Eagles Mere Foundation, a community foundation serving
Eagles Mere, PA, the sum of $________ to be used for general
charitable purposes."
The Eagles Mere Foundation is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the
Internal Revenue Service code and is registered with the Pennsylvania Commission on Charitable Organizations.
